Hi! All,
I have been trying to get WinAmp to work right and have been searching the topics for info. I found the rule set for WinAmp...now it works (at least with Folk Alley). In that thread it also said that OP automatically identifies WinAmp...I am assuming that means that OP must be put into Rules Wizard to do this!!? Is this assumption correct?
I was able to create a winamp connection: TCP-outbound, remote port-8000-8900 rule set. But can't figure out how to do the "winamp minibrowser connection part of the rule set: TCP outbound. remote port: 80-83, HTTP,socks, proxy 3128, proxy 8080, AOL_4. And do I need AOL_4...I don't have AOL.
I really don't like going into Rules Wizard since OP will then allow anything else that might come along during that time frame. Hi! Paranoid2000
Thanks for clearing-up my mis-understanding about Rules Wizard and the additional rule set info for WinAmp.

Hi! Again,
I am new at this...so bear with me. I created WinAmp Rule #1 (the first part) and WinAmp Rule #2 (for the last part). And left out AOL_4. Is this the way to do it correctly? Outpost does not allow any new traffic in Rules Wizard policy, it prompts you for it and suspends the connection (if TCP) while awaiting your reply. UDP protocol connections cannot be suspended so are blocked instead (which can cause problems in some cases).
Outpost's Rules Wizard uses the preset.lst file (in the Outpost program folder) for information on common applications and the rules needed so you can always check the details there. Note that the preset rules can often be trimmed back since they do include rules to cover every situation (e.g. using AOL) which may not be necessary in your case.
In the case of the Winamp minibrowser, you can apply the standard browser preset - the bare minimum it should need is HTTP and HTTPS (for accessing secure websites).
