Wind River Systems, Inc. announced Friday an investment in Tvia, Inc. to jointly develop and market streaming media library, Internet appliance, and set-top box technology.
Terms of the arrangement weren't disclosed.
In addition, Tvia will distribute an evaluation copy of Wind River's Tornado integrated development environment along with Tvia's software development kits to Tvia's customers in the digital television and set top box markets.
"Through investments like this one in Tvia, Wind River Ventures is helping Wind River accomplish strategic initiatives," commented Curt Schacker, vice president of marketing and corporate development at Wind River. "By investing in companies that are effectively positioned in key markets and tying strategic agreements to those investments, Wind River can extend the reach of its software into high growth markets that are strategically aligned with Wind River."
