Content delivery company SightPath, which was recently acquired by Cisco Systems (CSCO) for $800 million, is launching a rich media content delivery solution designed for European Network Service Providers (NSPs), Internet backbone carriers and Web hosting providers.
The SightPath i.Director solution enables service providers to build their own scaleable content delivery networks, capable of providing TV-quality video, multimedia and other rich media applications.
i.Director is based on SightPath's SODA Self Organising Distributed Architecture (SODA),which allows service providers to deliver content from a distributed network of servers located near users. This offers the scalability, real-time request routing, and network-wide load- balancing required for the provision of content and commerce services in large-scale
edge networks; gives the network the automatic ability to route around network congestion in real time and provides the ability to handle unexpected peak loads.
