Looking to build the IP telephony market in Asia, Cisco Systems, Inc. Thursday entered into an agreement with Taiwan's Acer Group to accelerate enterprise telephony adoption.
Under terms of the agreement, Acer and Cisco will jointly develop and market multiservice networking applications based on DVVI (Data, Voice and Video Integration) architectures from Cisco. No financial terms were disclosed.

"Our worldwide cooperation with Cisco will give a competitive edge to our large corporate clients as well as our internal operations," said Stan Shih, CEO of Acer Group.
Acer said the first step of development is for Acer to consolidate its networks into an integrated voice, video and data infrastructure, which will be implemented in approximately 80 Acer offices globally.

The new networks will consist of Cisco's CallManager switches, responsible for call control,
digit analysis, routing, and advanced features; IP phones; and IP to
PSTN (Public Service Telephone Networks)/PBX gateways.
