The competition is fierce and the Chinese government doesn't want them, but that hasn't stopped the American company EnReach from launching a Chinese language portal aimed at set-top users in that country.
Last Tuesday, China's Ministry of Information Industry said that it didn't want foreign companies creating content for Chinese Internet users.
However, other companies such as China.com, based out of Hong Kong, and MyWeb, based in the San Francisco, Calif., already have launched portals for this potentially huge market.
"As an American technology company with Chinese ancestry, we have a sense of responsibility to help China to continue to grow in the information age," says EnReach president and CEO Bo Wu.
